Surface Preparation

On bare substrate: clean with steel brush or sand blaster. The substrate must be solid and free from dust, oil and grease. Porous substrates must be moistened first. Metal parts are to be treated with an anti-rust primer (Combiprimer 3369/3380 or Hard Hat 2169/2182).

Application Conditions

Apply at a temperature of min. 5°C.

Application and Thinning

Rake/Trowel

Mixing & Thinning

Mixing ratio: Approximately 5 parts of powder to 1 part of water (2 litres of water for the entire 10 KG).

Fill the container with the water. Add the dry mortar to the water whilst stirring. Mix water and powder thoroughly to a thick smooth, lump-free substance. Add some water to your liking if the mortar is too dry.

Application

Apply the product with the included trowel or spatula up to a maximum layer thickness of 2 cm. Wet the trowel to smooth out any trowel marks or irregularities. After 48 hours the surface can be sanded using a rough sandpaper (P120) to obtain a smooth end result.

Cleanup

Clean tools and spillages with water.

Remarks

The mortar can now be over coated with EpoxyShield® coatings or other non-alkyd paints like Epoxies, Acrylics, etc.
If thicker layers are necessary (> 2 cm) the mortar can be mixed with kiln dried quartz sand. Mixing ratio: 1 volume part mortar plus 0,3 to 0,5 volume parts of kiln dried quartz sand (0 - 4 mm).
